Privacy Statement
This Privacy Statement describes how we ("we," "us," "our," or "Anderson Law") collect, use, share, and safeguard the personal information you ("you," "your," or "client(s)") provide to us, and is intended to help you make informed decisions when using our website (the "Site"). Additionally, it outlines your rights under data protection laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA). This Privacy Statement forms a part of our Terms of Use. In order for us to provide services to you, we need to collect certain non-public, personal information from you. Keeping your information private is a top priority for us.
Personal Information We Collect
Information We Collect from You
We may collect personal information directly from you in order to facilitate communication between us and provide services to you. Types of personal data we collect from you may include, without limitation: your name, address, email address, phone number, and any and all necessary details pertaining to your legal matter. By using any of our services or communicating with us, you consent to our collection and use of this personal information as described in this Privacy Statement.
Certain Types of Data from Other Sources
We may (but are not required to) obtain supplemental information from third parties to verify what you provide to us in order to prevent fraud or misuse of your personal information.
Data Collected by Our Service Providers
In addition to information we collect directly from you, certain other information may be automatically collected when you access the Site or communicate with us. In general, such information might be collected by the services we use for Web hosting, email, and cloud data storage, in conformance with the privacy policies of such services. Our email and data host is Google Workspace, and the published privacy commitments for this service can be reviewed here: https://cloud.google.com/privacy. Our Web host is Cloudflare, and the privacy commitments of this service can be reviewed here: https://www.cloudflare.com/policies/privacy/.
Certain Types of Automatic Data Collection
We do not currently use cookies, pixels, or beacons for tracking or marketing purposes. Some "strictly necessary" cookies may be enabled when you visit our Site, but we do not share such information with, nor do we sell such information to, third parties. In some cases you may stop or limit placement of cookies on your device by changing your browser settings or permissions. It is possible, however, that limiting or removing cookies can prevent your device from working properly with our Site.
Such information may include the following:
- Your Internet Protocol (IP) address
- Company name
- Area code
- Postal code and country
- User settings
- Cookies, pixels, tags or Web beacons, and similar identifiers
- Mobile advertising data
- Mobile carrier and unique identifiers
- Browser information, type and version
- Operating system/device information, type and version

- Internet service provider
- Links you click and pages you visit before, during, and after using our Site
- Types of content you interact with
- Data regarding your use of our Site and our services, which we may aggregate with information collected from other users of our Site

How We Use Your Information
Providing Services and Support
We use your information to respond to your inquiries, to communicate with you, to provide legal advice and representation, to process transactions for you if requested, or for other purposes you are advised of and consent to.
Analyzing and Improving Our Services
We may (but are not required to) use your information, either in identifiable or in deidentified or aggregate form, to measure engagement with our services; research, develop, and improve our services; verify your identity and prevent fraud; detect security incidents or illegal activity; enforce our terms and agreements; and comply with our legal obligations.
Protecting Legal Rights, Complying with Legal Requirements, and Preventing Misuse
We may use your information to (a) prevent and detect fraud and misuse, unauthorized access, or unlawful activities, (b) investigate or take action in connection with a known or suspected security threat or breach, (c) investigate suspected fraud, or potential threats to your, our, or any other person's legal rights, (d) detect and prevent violations of our Terms of Use or this Privacy Statement, or (e) comply with legal requests or orders.
How We Share Your Information
Sharing Information on Behalf of Our Clients
Except as otherwise directed by you in the attorney-client engagement letter or fee agreement, or as stated in this Privacy Statement, we will not disclose, nor will we sell, your personal information. We will restrict access to your non-public personal information only to those persons who need such information for purposes you have authorized. In order to provide representation, it may be necessary on occasion for us to share your personal information with third parties such as opposing counsel, counterparties to an agreement, or others. In all such cases we will act according to your instructions and with your approval.
Sharing Information with Third Parties
We may share your personal information with other third parties, including vendors or other professional and legal advisers, as necessary to assist us in providing the services you have authorized. Your personal information may be exposed to Google to enable Google to provide the email, cloud storage, and other services offered as the Google Workspace suite of services. Google's use of your information in such a case is governed by Appendix 3 to the Google Cloud Data Processing Addendum (Customers), currently available at https://cloud.google.com/terms/data-processing-addendum/.
Disclosing Information as Required by Law or to Protect Us or Others
We may disclose your information if such disclosure is required to: (a) comply with law (i.e., a court order or subpoena) or other regulatory authority, if we believe in good faith such disclosure is required, (b) protect your or our rights, or the rights of others, (c) enforce our policies or agreements, or (d) collect amounts owed to us.
Storage and Protection of Your Information
Access Restriction
We restrict access to your non-public personal information to those persons who have a need to know in providing, or supporting, the services that we provide to you.
Physical, Electronic, and Procedural Safeguards
We take physical, electronic, and procedural measures to safeguard your personal information, in compliance with this Privacy Statement and with applicable laws and regulations. However, no system can be 100% secure, and we cannot warrant or ensure the security of any information provided to us. Further, to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for unintentional disclosure.
Security Issues
You agree that we may communicate with you electronically regarding security, privacy, and administrative issues relating to your use of the Site or the services. If we learn of a security system breach, we may attempt to notify you electronically by (a) email, (b) postal mail, or (c) posting a notice on the Site.
Children's Information
Our services are not designed for or directed to children under the age of 18 (or other applicable age specified by local law). We do not knowingly collect personal information from or about children, unless with the permission of an authorized parent or guardian. If we learn that we have received personal information in violation of applicable law, we will promptly delete such information.
Notice Regarding Third-Party Websites, Products, and Services Linked to or from Our Site
There may be times when other websites or services link to our Site. We do not have control over these websites or services, and we advise our users to familiarize themselves with the privacy policies of any website and application they use. We are not responsible for the privacy policies or content of these other websites or applications, nor do we support, monitor, or approve them. We also do not accept responsibility for the products and services provided by any third party, even if we provide links to such third parties on our Site. You accept all risk when disclosing personal information to third-party websites or applications.
Retention of Data
We retain your personal information received as described in this Privacy Statement (a) for as long as you use our services, (b) as required for us to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, (c) to resolve disputes and establish legal defenses, (d) to conduct audits, (e) to conduct legitimate business transactions, (f) to enforce our agreements, (g) to comply with applicable laws, or (h) for other legitimate recordkeeping purposes.
Your Rights and Choices
Personal Choices
You have rights and choices about how your personal information is accessed and used. If you have given us consent for use or processing of your personal information, you may withdraw that consent at any time by contacting us as described below. If you opt out, we may not be able to provide services to you, and your withdrawal will only take effect for future processing. Such withdrawal will not affect the lawfulness of processing before the withdrawal.
Mobile Devices
We may send you communications through mobile applications. You may opt out from receiving these types of communications by replying "STOP" to any message.
"Do Not Track" Disclosure
Users of specific Web browsers can select the privacy choice known as "Do Not Track," or "DNT." We do not presently process or abide by "DNT" signals from any Web browsers.
Access to and Portability of Your Personal Information
You may have the right to access your personal information and/or to have your electronic personal information transferred to another party.
Correction or Deletion of Your Personal Information
You may have the right to request correction of your personal information where it is inaccurate or incomplete. You may have the right to delete your personal information, except where prohibited by applicable law.
Restrict or Object to Processing of Your Personal Information
You may have the right to request restriction of, or objection to, processing of your personal information, including the sale of your personal information to third parties, where such request is permitted under applicable law.
Request to Opt Out of Specific Processing Activities
You may have the right to opt out of our use of your personal information if we process the information for targeted advertising, sale of your personal data, or participation in profiling. We do not currently engage in behavioral marketing, profiling, or the sale of personal information for any purposes.
Changes to the Privacy Statement
We reserve the right to revise the Privacy Statement from time to time in our sole discretion. Such changes are effective immediately upon publication. You understand and agree that continued use of our services or the Site, after the new Privacy Statement has been published and takes effect, constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Statement.
Additional Privacy Notices
International Data Transfers
Information processed by us may be transferred, processed, and stored anywhere in the world, including but not limited to the United States or other countries, which may have applicable data protection laws which differ from those where you live. You understand that your disclosure and transfer of personal information to and via our Site or email servers is a transfer by you to the United States, and that such information may be subject to different laws and regulations governing personal data collection, use, and disclosure. By contacting us voluntarily, you are consenting to such transfer.
California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA): "California Notice"
Personal Information Under CCPA and CPRA. This section of our Privacy Statement describes how we manage and process personal information under the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 ("CCPA"), as amended and supplemented by the California Privacy Rights Act of 2020 ("CPRA"). Under CCPA and CPRA, "personal information" means any information that identifies, relates to, describes, is reasonably capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with a particular California resident or household. We collect and process personal information in accordance with CCPA and CPRA.
Categories of Personal Information. Depending upon the circumstances and the particular relationship between us and a client, we may collect, use, and disclose the following categories (as defined under CCPA and CPRA) of personal information:
- Identifiers: real name, alias, address, and other unique personal identifiers such as Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, account names, Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, passport numbers, and other similar identifiers.
- Client records (paper or electronic): name, signature, physical characteristics or description, address, telephone number, education, current employment or employment history, insurance policy number(s), bank account number(s), credit card number(s), debit card number(s), and other financial or payment information.
- Protected classifications: if applicable to our representation of a client, personal information describing characteristics of protected classifications under California or federal law, which may include race, color, sex, age, religion, national origin, disability, citizenship status, and biometric or genetic information.
- Commercial information: if applicable to our representation of a client, information included in commercial records of property, products or services purchased, obtained, or considered, or other purchasing or use histories or tendencies.
- Internet or electronic network activity information: if applicable to our representation of a client, information including but not limited to browsing history, search history, or interaction with an Internet website, application, or advertisement.
- Geolocation data: if applicable to our representation of a client, information that includes precise location information about a particular individual or device.
- Audio/visual and electronic data: if applicable to our representation of a client, audio, electronic, visual, or similar information (i.e., CCTV footage, photographs, and audio recordings).
- Employment and education information: if applicable to our representation of a client, professional or employment-related information or non-publicly available personally identifiable information, as defined in the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (20 U.S.C. Sec. 1232g; 34 C.F.R. Part 99).
- Inferences from personal information collected: inferences drawn from any of the information identified in the categories above to create a profile reflecting a resident's preferences, characteristics, behavior, or attitudes.
Sources of Personal Information. We may automatically collect the above categories of personal information directly from you, or in connection with your use of our Site or services, and potentially from third parties such as other clients, business partners, government and public entities, public records, data aggregators and resellers, third parties and related parties in litigation matters, and others.
Purposes of Collecting, Using, and Disclosing Personal Information. We collect and use the above categories of personal information to provide our services and communicate on your behalf, to operate our Site, to optimize your experiences with our Site, to analyze and improve our Site and services, to provide customer support and respond to requests, to comply with legal and ethical obligations and regulatory requirements, to support our business operations, to protect and defend our rights and the rights of others, to prevent misuse of our Site and services, or as otherwise required by applicable law.
Additional Rights of California Residents. California law grants California residents certain rights, as well as imposes restrictions on particular business practices, as set forth below:
- Notice Before Collection: We are required to notify California residents (i) at or before the point of collection of their personal information, (ii) about the categories of personal information collected, and (iii) the purposes for which such personal information is used.
- Request to Delete: California residents have the right to request, at no charge, deletion of their personal information that we have collected about them, and to have such personal information deleted, except where an exemption applies. We will respond to verifiable requests received from California residents as required by law.
- Request to Know: California residents have the right to request and, subject to certain exemptions, receive a copy of specific personal information that we have collected about them in the prior 12 months, and to have this delivered, free of charge, either (a) by mail, or (b) electronically in a portable and, to the extent technically feasible, readily usable format that allows the individual to transmit this information to another entity without difficulty. California residents also have the right to request that we provide them certain information about how we have handled their personal information in the prior 12 months, including: categories of personal information we have collected; categories of sources of personal information we have collected; business and/or commercial purposes for collecting and selling their personal information; categories of third parties with whom we have disclosed or shared their personal information; categories of personal information that we have disclosed or shared with a third party for a business purpose; and categories of third parties to whom the resident's personal information has been sold and the specific categories of personal information sold to each category of third party.
- Do-Not-Sell (Opt-out/Opt-in): California residents have the right to opt out of sharing or sale of their personal information. Furthermore, businesses may not knowingly sell personal information about minors under 16 years old without prior express consent. We are not aware of any "sharing" of personal information of minors under 16 years of age for cross-context behavioral advertising, or sale of data concerning such minors, in connection with our Site or our business.
Obtain a List of Categories of Personal Information Disclosed. You may have the right to obtain a list of categories of personal information that we have disclosed or sold, for business purposes, about consumers in California in the past 12 months.
Anderson Law does not sell, and has not in the prior 12 months sold, personal information about California residents. We do disclose personal information for business purposes only as described above in connection with the services we provide for clients.
Submit a Request. As a California resident, only you or someone legally authorized to act on your behalf may submit a request related to your personal information by contacting us as noted below. We may require additional information from you in order to verify your request. We will respond to verifiable requests received from California residents as required by law.
